When was the last time you had family portraits taken? 90% of the time the answer is… NEVER!
I love it when parents jump in front of the lens had have some fun with the kids, these always turn out to be the most natural looking photos.. and why should the little ones have all the spotlight?
Family session information
For any sessions other than newborns, an outdoor location works best. I’m open to a variety of locations and am happy to suggest some, or even just come to your home or the local park. There are a number of locations that would make a great backdrop for your portraits – beaches, farms, parks, think outside the box!
I recommend 45-90 minutes for your child’s photographs to be taken, and for family photographs. I encourage you to ensure your children are as well rested as possible (and I understand that is sometimes impossible!) and also well fed! Hungry children are not happy children
There’ll be basic posing involved in your session but my style of photography is predominantly raw and natural so children are encouraged to play and run, to capture your family as they are. These moments create the best images and will give you the happiest memories.
Make sure you dress your children in plain clothing. Bright colours are welcome, it’s just best to steer clear of clothing with writing or images printed on it.
For family sessions it’s best to dress in colours that compliment one another rather than match. This will look far more natural and these images won’t date.
It’s also a good idea to bring a spare change of clothes for children.
